Nice clear article explaining why keywords as domain names carry SEO advantage. And this may overrule the value of the tld.
Here.
I can speak best for Japan which is a market with ~70% share held by Y and G is still small. Was a time that Y gave too much advantage to keywords in domain names last year and they have scaled back on that for sure. But there is still an advantage and also for improving the CTR and for anchor text linking advantage - this is all helpful. I think in Japan G uses keywords in domain names more than the article suggests. Of course if you aren't planning to develop then...
I would probably go for cars.cc over goodcars.com for seo value but an ascii domain "goodcars.com" would be worth a little money.
