I don't think it will be as good, it's a bit like .fr which is not comparable to .de. Moreover french people are less cautious about the exact spelling of the words with the accents whereas german people care more.
But in the end of the day it really depends on the word, and for the french IDN.com the first generation of IDNers grabbed the really best ones, those that have significant traffic or are top-tier terms. These top french IDN.com will sell well I think, and maybe very well. I hope so for those of you who have those kind of names.
A lot of new-comers like me or even fresher IDNers will only grab average quality and I don't think it will sell good. Even in the ASCII world, the sales are quite low for the french names of medium quality. This should be obvious but before fresh regging, check if the ASCII is still on Sedo, traffic, how many offers it got, ... I've passed on a lot of regs recently, after my initial stupid beginner regs
