Default المصرى or المصريه: Egyptian?

Hi,

Just wondering if any Arabic speakers here could shed some light on the difference is between these terms, both of which auto-translate as "Egyptian." Seems like they just have different endings: ى vs. يه. Do both stand alone? Is there a gender or number difference?

Thanks

Does المصرية have the same meaning than المصريه ? TheEgyptian (female) ? Do we agree that, if المصريه is very good, المصرية is even better ? Not that I own it, but I'm still confused by some things in arabic like the accents. Are these accents ? If yes what's the difference between this lkind of accents and the other kind which is not searched a lot ? Sorry to bring this topic back !

yes both have the same meaning, in some cases in Arabic some characters can place each other place and still give the same meaning, in about 90% of cases, meaning won't change. examples of these characters:

- at the end of the word: ــــة & ــــــــه have the same meaning for any word (general rule) for example the term in question (Egyptian 'Female').
* when NO character before ة or ه connected with it it will looks like: القاهرة & القاهره both means Cairo

- at the end of the word: ــــــي & ــــــــى have the same meaning for most words, literal its wrong but when comes to writing most people type any, for example: عمي & عمى
* when NO character before ي or ى connected with it it will looks like the terms in question (Egyptian 'Male')

- at the start/middle/end of the word: the 'Alef' character have many alternative and people use them all as alternatives for each other, Alef's alter are: ا - إ - أ - آ, this char is one of the most confused characters in Arabic for foreigns so far as I saw, let's make it as simple as possible:-
Songs for example means أغاني this is the correct and prime term for songs in Arabic, Doors means أبواب, Up means أعلى so far, but you will notice that: اغاني - ابواب - اعلى are more popular, why? simply: أ - إ - آ needs to hit shift + character in keyboard to have it, while ا need NOT a shift hit, and simply people don't hit shift because:
> they don't know the shift hit will bring up the other versions
> so lazy to hit shift + another button

as of accents, we have Tashkeel in Arabic which is somehow similar to accents and when used in a words it's USELESS, all of them in Arabic is:
ـَ | ـً | ـُ | ـٌ | ـٍ | ـْ | ـّ
what made you confused with this term (others maybe) is the dotted and undotted characters in Arabic, all of them in Arabic:
د & ذ || ـــــد & ـــــذ
ص & ض || ـــــص & ـــــض
ع & غ || ـــــــع & ـــــــغ
ه & ة || ــــه & ــــــة
ى & ي || ـــــى & ــــــي
ر & ز || ــــــر & ـــــــز
ح & خ & ج || ـــــح & ــــــخ & ـــــــج
ط & ظ || ـــــــط & ـــــــظ
* you may need to increase font size to be able to see different between some chars

detailed enough? wish it's simple and easy

Muhammad, that was an amazingly educational post.

I propose that you put it into a new thread in this forum and make it a sticky, so people can find it easily.
