Default Chinese City Help?

I find it hard to believe that anything that useful could be found at this late stage, but I just regged these, populations are from wikipedia, so are questionable:

平度市.net Pingdu (1.3m)
平度市.com Pingdu
平度.net Pingdu
赣州市.net Ganzhou (8.5m?)
鹤岗市.net (1.1m)
鹤岗市.com

I know there's the whole issue of with/without "市", I don't know if there's been a consensus ruling on that in Chinese.

Any comments you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Seems to vary from city to city.

Example, baidu gives no result for tier 1 cities like guangzhou-shi, shanghai-shi and beijing-shi, but returns some score for tier 2 cities like nanjing-shi, tianjing-shi, wuhan-shi.

Note that there are like 666 "shi"s in china.

Yes, I've noticed that. I take it as a good thing that the Wikipedia pages on these without the shi redirects to the page with shi.

That's why I've shied away from China geos in the past. With a population of 1 billion, there are probably close to 1,000 geographic areas with over 1 million. How many, though, will be significant enough to command a premium?

You can refer to this list - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._by_population

There are about 100 cities.
