I have decided to get rid of nearly all of my chinese domains, only keeping maybe 3 or 4 of the better ones. Over the past few months, I have dropped nearly everything and the last 40 or 50 of them are going now.
For purposes of profitability, I can not hold on to hundreds of domains that do not receive traffic or generate revenue. I have checked my chinese domains in google keyword tool and most of them had very high search volume for the term verbatim, but still zero traffic. So they are going the way of the dodo. No traffic, no renewal. We can't blame it on the lack of browser support anymore - it's the government (IMO) that is stopping the outflow of traffic at the GFW. ![]() Japanese, on the other hand, get traffic, but those "#¤%&!?& refuse to click. I may hold on to them for one more year and see what happens. .

I see Chinese as a medium-long term strategic play and i've generated many times more than my reg-fee through sales... granted it takes more work than watching the traffic and clicks flow in, the potential for the Chinese market for IDNs is as big if not bigger than any other market in the world.
I've been in Seoul for the past few weeks and i've gotta say, IDNs are catching up really quickly over here as well. I was just on the subway this evening when I saw a company called DigitalNames promoting IDNs... I saw their website and although they probably mainly deal with search right now, it was good to see their IDN up on the ad-board. Here is the website: http://www.digitalnames.co.kr/dnsite/main/main_htm.php |

Tons of chinese names dropping every day, i used to see johnny and then nomi snapping them. Recently, even they stopped. Those $60 does adds up over time, especially if the names don't generate PPC.
I did a study on my names recently, only generics with a baidu count of more than 10,000 can breakeven on reg fee, and that's for high CTR and PPC names. Nonetheless, flipping chinese names is a profitable business in this forum. It's one thing to flip, but another thing to invest. Last edited by touchring : 10th June 2008 at 17:18:04. |

flipping might take more work but most are trying to build long term cashflow.

There hasn't been a decent chinese domain offered for low xxx since I sold diamond.net for 2500 in early December. That really woke the flippers up. .

Maybe, but alas I've gotten twice as much money out of chinese names as I've put into them!
