Default Back and forth with Google

regarding using IDN in the display url field for adwords campaigns...

Now they finally told me that they will do manual review and approval for a few of my IDN sites so that I can run campaigns.

They still won't get past their assertion that an IDN is not equal to it's Punycode, but at least they are willing to discuss it further.

If I manage to get my arabic IDN campaign running today, I will paste it here for all to see :-)

Congrats - thats definately a step in the right direction.
It makes no sense at all not to display IDNs correctly in Adwords. Showing the punycode would make the site look like a complete spammy/phising type one.

Are you planning on running Adwords for a specific language or are you going to use it for more than 1 ??

Well, the first planned language is Arabic. After that, Finnish and German.

I think this is a big thing for IDN. We all should push Google toward this direction.
Keep us posted, MJ!

Google wants everyone rely on the ranks: to get more clicks, bid for the first position.

Fast forward 3 or 4 years...
What is going to happen once i.e a Hosting company or a Computer store comes to the point they determine the cost per click for the top spots is just not worth the investment with the competition on these spots growing monthly and the cost per click growing with the demand?

I guess in this case, the money the company would spend on Clicks would be better spent on SEO on their existing website in order to appear on the first page of the results without paying per click.

Well the demand will drive the market up or down. Once a bunch of them stop advertising - resulting in less competition - the prices will go down to accommodate the current market conditions. No?
