I am currently using an ascii name as the main domain and hosting idn as subdomains (or add on domains). It looks like a completely separate website if you visit it. But I am not sure whether that affects the ranking of the idn domain. Now I want to make the IDN domain the main domain and the only domain of my hosting plan. But the company I am using does not allow that.
Does anyone know a good hosting company that hosts IDN.cn? Thanks! Last edited by James : 15th July 2008 at 19:07:59. |

IDNs should be able to be hosted at all hosting companies. Just use the punycode.
They are no different from other ASCII domains apart from on your hosting panel you will not get the unicode, only the xn-... Last edited by mgrohan : 15th July 2008 at 19:24:15. |

Here is part of the conversation with one of the representatives: Q: Do you host IDN, internationalized domain names? A: Yes, we host English domain names. Q: ??? By internationalized domain names, I mean domain names in languages other than English... A: No, we don't do that. Q: Are you sure? A: No, we don't do that. Q: You can actually represent IDN in ascii characters, called punycode... A: No, we don't do that. LOL, that guy must think I was crazy. |

yeah I been there too.
Reality is that most ppl haven't got a clue what an IDN is or isn't. plus side: it means we were able and are able to get the names we have today downside: patience. gotta wait for the world to catchup
