So the end user is getting a hell of a deal where the Domain owners are shorting themself's severely because they are literally getting penny's ( if they only count on ppc ) while the agents and brokers are banking serious money. So from my observation you want to be positioned in certain niches where the end users are making big money off the leads/clicks you can send them so that you are in a great position when it comes to negotiating commissions/partnerships or outright selling.

Take the cottage rental business, for example. It's huge in Finland. I run an affiliate site with a link to a cabin reservation system. I get paid 10 EUR for every booking. But I am not allowed to advertise my domain with Adwords, although spam would be ok (haven't tried it, but it is allowed). The company behind the program does run Adwords campaigns...
10 EUR per booking is like 0.5-1% commission (really crappy), as the sales are usually between 1-2k EUR. Could I negotiate a higher rate? Probably not, because this program is the only affiliate program in Finland for cottage bookings, and it's only for one particular ski resort. The cottage rental industry itself is nationwide and full of small, independent cottage owners. Many players are trying to consolidate it, unsucessfully...
If I could negotiate 10% commission on this program, I'd be happy as a pig in shit. However, the site is profitable and has zero maintenance, so maybe I should stop complaining...
