Members here often list auctions and sales, sometimes for some pretty decent domains. The auctions and sales forums are not visible, however, to google or people who aren't logged in. .

buy only one premium portfolio of your fan language and you will be interested to hand register tons more and play in the drop game by analyzing the traffic names in your own portfolio... starting by hand registrations is not suitable for someone who would like to one of the major players I hope you enjoy your time here Gee

The simple question to confirm your belief in these weird squiggly things is to simply ask ask yourself - "if I were a Chinese/Japanese/Thai etc , what language would I like to access the net and communicate in ?" - bit of a no brainer really. Welcome to our weird and wonderful world of IDN's.

You can still get second tier in frontier languages. Try Hindi. I know most Americans still believe that English will dominate the Internet. But do some research. The advantage is that you can actually do most of the research in English. I think you will be surprised by the results. Trust me Hindi is going to be huge. What is more you can pick up Hindi for peanuts. I got Elephant.com in Hindi last week for $50 off another player that arrange to drop it for me. I don't even bother with Snapnames, I let somebody else do the work! Another interesting one is Azerbajani. Look to see how fast their GDP is growing. I doubt if there are 500 dot coms registered in that language. Maybe even as few a hundred. |

Now if we could only get the Azerbaijanis to start using their own script. It will probably require a generation change, though. One thing is that Turkish and Azeri are, as far as I understand, mutually intelligible and there is a whole army of Turkish content out there, thus providing a bit less incentive to produce their own. The other is that anybody who is old enough to use the internet now was schooled with Cyrillic characters and many of them also speak Russian, again decreasing incentive. Out of the top 100 Alexa for Azerbaijan, nearly 30 Cyrillic, approx. 20-25 English, approx. 10-15 Turkish... I listed the prime term for RealEstate.com in Azeri script for $100 less than a year ago and nobody was interested. ![]() .

Time is limited for everyone, so you either play ASCII and make lots of money from 2000 to 2006, or you play IDNs and sit on it forever like what many early players with first and second tier names are doing. After you spent all your time making lots of money in ASCII from 2000 to 2006, now you look at IDNs, you can be sure anything worth money is already registered and a 10 year renewal only costs $70. There's no easy way into IDNs, the only way is to buy. I bought many of my geos back in early 2006, the good ones were registered by then. Ironically, i used profits from my 2 mths of ASCII flipping to buy IDNs! I started domaining 2 mths before i discovered IDN! LOL IDNs are like prime land in China. In 1995, when private land ownership is illegal, you can buy prime commercial land for $20 a sq ft, today it costs $2000 sq ft. It will never go back to $20 a sq foot or even near even if WWIII breaks out. Last edited by touchring : 20th August 2008 at 09:01:18. |

I'm one of the few members who believes that you can still hand reg some decent terms with a bit of research. I hand regged mineração.com today, which means 'mining' in Portuguese. It might not be sex.com, but I think it will be worth something one day to a Brazilian based mining company (so I hope). Brazil, which has a population of 180 million people, is one of the biggest mining producers in the world. Got to be worth more than the reg fee!
