Is there a backorder service through Dynadot?
I can't find one, but a name dropped yesterday and Snapnames didn't get it. It took a while for the DNS and Whois to update, but when I check the name today, it's regged at Dynadot and parked. I had been checking this name's availability since it dropped, and it has not been available to register any time that I checked (though, strangely, if I used the Moniker Whois through Snapnames link, it said "Name is Available," when I clicked on "Register Now," it was listed as regged). Did someone just get lucky, and reg it at just the right time and beat Snap to it? |

Maybe noone placed a snap for it? I'm not sure...

Nope, I did.
I got the "Sorry, we couldn't acquire this name" message, and whois was showing "No Record for xn--..." and I couldn't reg it. At that point, I figured another drop service got it and the Whois wouldn't update for a couple days, but now that I see that DD is the registrar I'm quite surprised. Is there a drop service that uses them as a registrar, maybe? Incidentally, there's another name that they couldn't snap for me on Tuesday. Currently showing no Whois record, cannot be regged. I assume, again, that it's at Pool or something in an auction. ![]() Last edited by clipper : 23rd May 2008 at 19:53:09. |

Were they chinese/japanese names that might have had variants?

It seems that for one of them, 旅館.net, this is the case. That one's still showing no Whois record.
The other one, though, has been re-registered. Snap must've just missed it and another IDNer got lucky. |

Yep. Variant problem.
Was originally regged when there was no variant blocking. The Snow's have the simpl. version. Once it went to the drop, it's death warrant was signed. |

Snapnames uses dynadot.
I got a name thru them a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised, and pushed right into my regular account. No waiting for 60 days crap. |

They must have other drop services they're hooked up to as well, because I'd have been in the auction. This one must have gone to a different dropcatcher. |

snapnames uses whatever registrar they can to catch the domain, dynadot or any other.
