What do you think about this? In terms of value and in terms of search engine optimization? Which one would you register?
Best regards, Ivan |

At this point in time, the dot com will get type-in traffic. The dot cc will get none. Why not get both?

goodcars.com would be my choice for value.
For SEO it could be either way but I believe the com would have an advantage.

I agree, sadly. A .cc or .ws just can't overtake a dot com. IMHO

Nice clear article explaining why keywords as domain names carry SEO advantage. And this may overrule the value of the tld. Here.
I can speak best for Japan which is a market with ~70% share held by Y and G is still small. Was a time that Y gave too much advantage to keywords in domain names last year and they have scaled back on that for sure. But there is still an advantage and also for improving the CTR and for anchor text linking advantage - this is all helpful. I think in Japan G uses keywords in domain names more than the article suggests. Of course if you aren't planning to develop then... I would probably go for cars.cc over goodcars.com for seo value but an ascii domain "goodcars.com" would be worth a little money. Last edited by rhys : 8th June 2008 at 17:27:09. |

I have seen .ws very devaluated these days. What do you think about this extension? For sure is not worth for reselling but It can still be worth for developing isn't it ?

I have had some really great keyword .cc domains. I let them go
Unless you are willing to put in alot of time and resources in them I would move away. Check out the latest reseller prices on some of them, there is a reason they stay fairly low. There are exceptions though. Dot com is you best bet in anything. Its what people search for. |
