Default dynadot finally added a delete command to their api

http://www.dynadot.com/domain/api.html

I thought tasting was supposed to be cancelled by icann, but seems it's still going strong.

What does not makes sense is banning accouts because of API requests.

It's only a 10 minute ban if you execute multiple concurrent operations.

Clearly, they are not drop-catcher friendly. But API deletes are a pretty big deal if you taste a lot.

Now if you could just get parking or other stats via the API. I asked them about it and they will only give it if you have more than 10k domains.

This will probably again be a temporary thing as once the ascii guys get hold of it, they will slam dynadot servers, and cripple it like they do for overture, and you will be sure dynadot is going to restrict their API.

It's already restricted to customers who are on "premium pricing". Maybe this is too low barrier to entry, though. I am on "super premium pricing" (more than 5k usd in past 12 months), and that sounds better.

I'm waiting for them to release their "super super premium" service.

I'm not sure if they are outlawing it, but discouraging it - or perhaps more accurately, intending to profit from it. The 20c non-refundable fee for deleting a domain during the grace period will net them big money from domain tasters. Dynadot said they will have to pass on this cost to their customers (no date set just yet), and it wouldn't surprise me if they charge a little bit more on top of that (probably justified as necessary to cover ICANN administrative costs). Also, I'm sure Dynadot are counting on customers stuffing up when deleting lots of domains using the API (the limit of one name per request will help them out there), in which case inattentive users will be stuck with the names they registered. I'm sure Dynadot have it all figured out - otherwise why would they bother?
