Info domains are well used for German sites. No where as big as .com or .de but making a good showing.
fräulein a bit outdated term but not too bad for what it is. Holding on to it for now. |

I have recently found a coupel of interesting German IDNS - available in either .org and / or .info.
Can I ask .... 1) - Are these extensions worth registering ?? 2) - Some names I have found are 2 word ones. However, from what I can see, the Germans love using the hyphen "-". I personally try to avoid a hyphen in my domains at all costs. So, is it worth registering a two work domain without a hyphen, or will I simply be shooting myself in the foot. Thanks and sorry if I am hijacking the original thread - which was not my intention at all. Alex

i would not personally reg .info or .org in the german language unless it is a very strong word or something that you just like.
I probably would not have regged driving license dot org (in German) but I see that someone is getting 5000 euro for it now. Its a crap shoot at this time. .info and .org are being used but of the 287 million dot info 994,000 are german language and of the .org 1.8 million are german language. They are trending upwards in sales. But you have to comapre thiw with the 32 million .de and 22 million .com in german The .de domain is maxing out and I suspect that germans will migrate to other extensions. At this time they are leaning tword the .info and .org domains as much as I can tell. |

Thanks for the reply Lipps - it was much appreciated.
Can I ask your views regarding hyphens in German domains. Is it better with or without a hyphen ( for either ASCII and IDN ) ?? Thanks Alex

My opinion
Hyphens are a downfall in any language I have had a few N-N domains L-L domains in .com they just never realized their true potential. The average internet user just dosent like that key and browsers do not recognize the hyphen key so your placement will be trumpped by more prominate domains. At this time in the game since there are so many good domains still out there I would stay away from them. |
