Default ευ.com Appraisal Greek

Thoughts on the Domain?

Supranational Country Codes

"Currently, "EU" is the only supranational country code used as a TLD.
[edit] .eu European Union - Европа / Ευρώπη

The European Union has two members that use non-Latin scripts, namely Bulgaria and Greece. As a result, it can only have either no IDN ccTLD, or if it does, it requires one in Cyrillic and one in Greek. In keeping with the similarity of scripts, it may be good to use abbreviation, most probably for purely practical reasons, the simple transliteration of "EU" into Greek and Bulgarian.

* Alternatives for Greek:
o .ευ (xn--qxa6a) Transliteration of "eu" into Greek, also corresponding to the first two letters of the Greek word for Europe.
o . ευρώπη (xn--qxae0adt9c) Full Word for Europe in Greek. "

I believe that the European Union in Greek is .. Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης

That being said, it would probably be best to get εε.com rather than ευ.com.

The υ / Υ letter would appear like the letter u but only in it's non-capital form - if its a capital, it would appear like the letter Y.

ΕυρωπαϊκήςΈνωσης.com is also available if you want it.

Thanks Alex, yep I would agree with you except that .EE is already in use as a cctld and the Greek version and usage would be confusingly similar.

So .εε probably won't be used.

.EE country-code Estonia

.ευ on the other hand is similar to .eu which is what they will be looking for.

Well, we're talking about a tld that hasn't really found its place within the EU (except in some cases) so, waiting for idn.eu (icctld) to take on maybe futile if you're over 30

In any case, European Union translates to Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (without the "ς"), so εε is natural for the locals. It is also pronouncable if it's sounded out (sounds like "e" in "yes").
If ευ is used, sounded out, the letter υ makes the same sound as ι, η, οι and ει. Typo heaven.

But your point regarding Estonia is valid, so most likely a translit version would be used.
Again, I wouldn't hold my breath.
