That wasn't a drop was it?
The original registration date since purchase still shows in 2005.
Either the domain name is still in name of seller, or buyer was a German fellow.

I've seen a few like this pass through SN lately. I can only assume that the German guy is in fact selling it through SN - because as you say, this didn't drop and wasn't due to either.

if that was the case, then its creation date would have been recent surely - not 2005 still.

according to the whois, this name never dropped.

It didn't drop, it just expired at the registrar so the whois records at verisign remain, you only have to look at the last update.

Remember there are 2 whois instances, one at the registrar and one at the extension manager.

EDIT: this name was in the expiration list, not in the droplist
