Parked Japanese domains .jp vs .com

Just thought I would share this and see if others are similar or not.

Looking at Namedrive stats from Jan 1, 2008 to Sep22, 2008.

.COM / .NET received 33.6 views per domain with 10% ctr and 17 cent per click

.JP received 132.8 views per domain with 15% ctr and 13 cent per click

.TV Japanese domains received 17.6 views per domain with 16% ctr and 14 cent per click

By comparison my Thai .COM domains received 91 views per domain with 27% CTR and 4 cent per click.

I don't get too much parked traffic on my japan
.jp's or .com's I think the nameservers are blocked thesedays. Where do you park them?

Things have been slow all over. Perhaps the focus has changed to the stock markets for many...not sure really.

I park at namedrive. Continuous traffic though, I don't see anything getting blocked.

Well, to be honest I really did not know how to respond. Without knowing the quality of the names that make up your .jps and .coms it is really tough to view the information useful. For example, if your .jps are banking type terms and your .coms are something similar to bluemustard.com then that would alone explain things.

idn - your point is taken as fair especially if my portfolio were say a small collection of names; I was assuming folks were familiar with me already which is a mistake on my part. So no, if it is helpful you can assume I'm talking about a well rounded portfolio of between 250 and 500 names for each .com and .jp (excluding Thai and .tv where I have less than 50 names parked). I speak and read Japanese and got into IDN in Jan '06 - with that you should be able to deduce the quality of my portfolio. Unregged domains with OVT exceeding 500,000 were quite common when I jumped in. I've never regged anything that was garbage (at least in Japanese) and I've had a couple of years to dump anything that I would consider third tier.

My basic take-away from the data is that .JP indexes much better on Japanese search engines. Curious to see anyone with similarly large portfolios with different evidence.

Fair enough. I realize you were around then, but I figured you would have been able to get your hands on better .jps than most.

Same people who were on IDNF are here now, so your comment is somewhat unnecessary

Anyway, I don't know how many people here can claim they have a Japanese portfolio of similar quality to yours (the obvious suspects excluded)? I dare say very few. Hence the lack of responses to your question.

I would say my Japanese portfolio is mainly 3rd tier names with a few exceptions. 90% are probably garbage. Haven't had the chance to weed them out because I'm busy mining other languages, still. Many will find their way to the trash bin.

My stats: 10 views per name (same date range as yours), CTR is 14.09%, avg ppc $0.21
All .com.

Of my .jp only one gets consistent traffic 3-5 views daily but very hard to monetize: 1% CTR


Now, if you wanna talk Russian, I'm all ears.

For me ... .com Japanese gets more traffic than .jp Japanese (overall) .. Thats all I've checked .. rhys does have a better Japanese portfolio that most so his figures will be more accurate

I would contribute but i never ever parked a single .jp , because they did so well mini sited.
